I read a few stories on the "Three Minute Fiction" site run by National Public Radio. I read a story called "The One" and the directions were, "For Round 6 of our contest, send us original works of fiction where one of the characters tells a joke and one of the characters cries." So, the story I read was really funny. The main character, Daniel, is at a dating place on a blind date with a girl named Melanie. He and this one girl meet and they have a little conversation thinking that they are with their date. However, it turns out that the girl is really Janet. They exchange phone numbers and then meet their real dates. During his date with Melanie, he keeps looking at Janet. When his date is over, he notices the Janet left with her date and he cries. When he gets home, he is upset, but then he listens to a message from a girl named Karen. He then throws away Janet's number and calls Karen. I thought this was a pretty amusing story and it was really quick. This website is pretty cool and I think others should check it out.
