The Broadway production of “A Chorus Line” is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theatre during an audition for a musical and it provides a glimpse into the personalities of the performers and the choreographer as they describe the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers.  In the image of this production, there is a group of seventeen men and women lined up at the edge of a stage.  They are all wearing clothes they can dance in.  This shows that they are at a dance audition.  Because there are only seventeen people on the stage at this point, it is apparent that they have survived the first cut on whether or not they can dance.  They tend to be looking up and out, so it appears that they are being judged.  Since they are still at the audition, one can infer that not all of them will get the job that they are auditioning for.  They are all standing in a different pose, which is unique.  Normally people sometimes stand somewhat the same way if their personalities are similar.  So, this part of the audition must relate to their personalities.  The way each person is positioned expresses their personality in a physical way.  For example, some people are obviously worried while others try to appear confident.  They all want to impress the judge and make their personality stand out so that they will be remembered.  If they are showing their personality, they are most likely talking about their childhood and what made them start dancing because, being dancers, that is what they would have the most to elaborate on.  The overall emotion of this image is longing and determination.  All of the performers on the stage desire to be in the production they are auditioning for and are determined to show the judge that they are the best person to be casted.
